This is what I learned from my maternal grandfather.

1. Never turn down a freebie.
2. Always cut the cards.
3. No matter how good looking you think she is and how bad you think you want her, someone out there wishes she woulld just shut up and go away.

Now them's words of wisdom!

Haha! I get it! That's funny but from what I've read of your posts, you're not stupid at all!

Peace,

One of my favourites is from the japanese book Hagakure.
On matters of great importance dont ponder your actions.
On matters of little importance take as much time as you like.

One of my faves. Actually, two... both Russell and this quote. Although the original reads:

"The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt."

But close enough. :D

That's interesting. The version you mention definitely sounds more authentic, but the one I cited is the one I see in all the quotation websites. It's the use of the word "folks" that rings false for me. In any case, I guess I should feel good that I was experiencing some doubt about the quote! :o

Thanks, Gridlok! :)

Here's something I like to say a lot. I guess it qualifies as words of wisdom:

Never use a big word when a diminutive one will do.

russianracehorse, beware of quotation websites. They'll have you thinking Einstein and Mark Twain said EVERYTHING. :D

Rule 1: Don't sweat the small stuff (this is actually supposed to be another word but for the sake of cleaning it up I have used the word stuff).

Rule 2: It's all small stuff.

+1

Don't start vast projects with half-vast ideas.

I saw that on the bulletin board in a car repair shop years ago and it always makes me chuckle.

In the Navy, our version was "never piss off the postal clerk, the disbursing clerk, the cook or the Chaplain".
