Hello, I have been interested in the banjo for a couple years now, and picked up an old used one only to have it be a weak-necked dud that is not good to learn on. What model would some seasoned banjo players recommend as a new, affordable instrument that is practical, closed-back, and built to last (at least until I move up)?
Thank you!

Not a banjo guy at all but I have heard that both Fender and Washburn make good entry level models - although I think banjos are relatively expensive.

Dueling Banjos anyone?

I've been learning on this one here:

It's a pretty good banjo.

Dean makes one called the Backwoods 6. The nice thing is that it's a 6 string guitar neck, standard tuned. It'd be easy, though not complete authentic banjo, way to start. Just a sugestion that's not too expensive. If you're a banjo purist, it may not be for you.
