I started learning guitar at the age of 10 on a very cheap "no-name" classical guitar from UK store chain Minns Music (anyone remember them?).

Since then I've had a variety of guitars over many many years (boy am I old! ), but I still have that first guitar - I can't seem to part with it even though it's battered, worn and was never good quality.

Maybe this is how a GAS - Guitar Acquisition Syndrome starts!

So, do you still have your very first guitar? And why?

PS: My current fave axe is my 1993 Black Strat Plus Deluxe

Hello Red Paul,

me when I years later. By no means a true
intrument but many have had fun with it.
Here is it.

Cheers.

Hehe... that's coool - it looks like a guitar that's seen life!
I actually restrung my old classical last year (nylon strings) for the first time in maybe 15 years. I leave it lying around the house for any visiting kids to play!

I still have both of my first guitars. But I only started playing two years ago so that was easy.

Haha... I like it!

I guess the question for you, then, is do you think you'll still have those two guitars in 30 years time, when other guitars have come and gone... ?

I have mine. it is in a few pieces now (due to some unfortunate mishaps in storage) but for some reason I still keep it around.

Yes I still have it :) It is a Ibanez RS530. But now it is in parts. It`s going to be repainted, change the hardware and pickups, and I have bought a Ibanez RG neck for it :D

No, I haven't. The very first guitar I had was a Rosetti acoustic. It cost my dad seven quid in 1963 and I sold it to a mate at school about a year later for something like a fiver.
It was the first of many guitars that have passed through my hands.
Many regrets on this subject. :(

My first real guitar was a Yamaha acoustic, I sold it when times were hard. Desperate times means desperate measures  It was actually a great sounding guitar.

Mr Bill,
I salute you sir, that is one fine looking acoustic  Thanks for posting the pic, nice one mate.

Yup, still got my squire.
Black Squire HSS with a rosewood fretboard.

Its still my only guitar... as i dont have money for another... newer? higher end? guitar.

So yeah, i still got it, even if i could get enough money for a new one, i'd never sell my squire. its worth more to me than anybody else.

and, if i do even end up getting famous. making millions. etc. when i go to play a show.
I'd still whip out that squire.

Just for kicks.

I still have mine - I picked it up new for about $125 in the East Village in NYC back in 1973. It is a Léro Model 58 Dreadnought - it has a great tone, and it's not in too bad a shape for being 36 years old - and until this year, it has hardly every been kept in a case of any kind - it has hung on walls, or been stored in a closet or a basement. It needs a couple of minor repairs, but it keeps in tune and sounds very nice.
