I went last night to see one of my favorite bands, the North Mississippi Allstars. They were incredible, going thru a lot of their repetoire as well as jamming with what they call Hill Country Revue, which is partly made up of NMAS band members, but it was when it was just Luther Dickinson, his brother Cody, and bassit Chris Chew (who is REALLY BIG) that they shone. If you've never seen them or heard them, I highly recommend them, start with their Bonnaroo cd. The lead guitarist, Luther Dickinson, is doing double duty with the Black Crowes. He was outside the bus when I arrived, just chilling. I spoke to him for a few minutes, very mellow and down to earth. I called my son in Boston, who is a huge fan. As I spoke to him, Luther walked by. I told him my son was also a big fan, so he got on the phone and spoke to him also. Needless to say, my son was absolutely thrilled to talk to one of his true "guitar heroes".
They played for a bit over three hours...a really fun night.
