It might help if you explained what Telegraph Road is. I for one have no idea what you are talking about. Is it a show? A song? Who is it by?

I'm in Miami so I probably don't get the same shows you get.

Thanks for sharing :)

Now you understand why you are here and what we are all about. I suspect that you are young enough not to know of the the work of Mark Knopfler and his seminal band "Dire Straits." "Telegraph Road" was one of their works and a track on "Love Over Gold.' Suggest you look into the band's discography and see if you can bring up and sample some of their work.

Doc

Out of DS's epic's its always private investigations for me. I just cant deal with long songs. The 7minutes of private investigations is about as much as i can put up with.

bros , did'nt it seem like at the end of the sixties beginning seventies almost all rock bands making records at that time all had at least one really long song in their repertoire .

Thanks, but I'm actually old and senile enough that I'm forgetting things. I do remember Dire Straits and although I don't remember the guitar players name I do remember how fluid and great he was back in the 80's.

I'll have to check them out on You Tube see if it brings back some memories.

Thanks for the retrieval que guys :)

I recall reading an interview with Knopfler in which he put forth his belief that the guitar had an integral voice in the song structure as well as lyrics. In some of the in depth video which accompanies the Knopfler/Harris work she makes the observation that he makes a great effort to choose a guitar and voicing he perceives most suited to the nature of the song.

I was never a big fan of Dire Straits and the guitar solo in Telegraph Road, to me, sounded like Knopflers voice. Uninteresting.
