How many of you save up for your guitars vs how many put your gear on payment plans?
I know I don't have a grand to drop at once on a guitar so pretty much most of my gear has been bought on a payment plan (or gifts).
How many of you actually put away money each month for new gear?

I've never put one on a payment plan. Then again I dont recall ever buying a new guitar. I've always either bought used from individual or shop. I see nothing wrong with taking advantage of a good credit rating though.

I only buy when I have the cash in hand, I don't have any credit cards either. I'm happy to say I have no debt, hopefully it will stay that way.

I used to use credit but anymore I save up and pay cash. When the cards are paid off they are history.

Always paid cash, never taken credit. The one good thing about it is that your less prepared to accept even minor faults when you gotta hand over hard earned green. Whilst using credit/loans for other purchases i've been happy to accept minor faults.

I don't have a credit card (and I don't want one). I have always used the stores payment plan.

I save up money for gear. I try to plan out a budget for what I want to do.

Sometimes everything works out - sometimes not, and I have to wait another month or two.

I'm on a somewhat fixed income - I'm retired, so I only get so much a month - and I have some fixed expenses that need to be covered.

Lounge vets, please excuse something you have seen before....

Many years ago, 'decided to "smoke a pack per day and drink a six-pack per day," because a lot of folks did and always had money there for.

However, the cash went into a jar or box or envelope instead of machine or over a counter.

And bros and sisters, you can build up a truly righteous collection of gear if you save like that, especially for a couple decades.

In the downtown Chicago train stations, a pack costs like $8.00 !

Long time ago, 'gave up stashing for the six and now just do the pack of smokes cash. And saving thusly, one can have gear and in this instance, books and scale modeling stuff...and clean lungs.

Best of fortune!

In the past I have done both but for a long time now it's been only cash, if I have the money to spare I buy one. I prefer it that way, I hate debt. :D

I had elective plastic surgery performed on my wallet and got rid of all my credit cards 10 years ago so it's cash and carry for me. Okay, I do use a debit card for convenience but I can't buy unless the money is there. That's a good thing when a G.A.S. attack hits.

Raised in a household where I learned "Don't have money...don't spend"...I save up for my purchases. Not only do I not have debt this way but it gives you time to see if what you want, is truly what you want.
