That sounds great. I'd love for my kids to learn. My daughter knows a little bass, I'm teaching her. She started out wanting to learn drums but I'm not a good enough drummer to teach her anything.

My Grandpa has a band, and one time when i was in town he let me "sit it" with them, which really just boiled down to me watching cause i didn't have a book of songs like the rest of them.
and i still remember the lead guitarist , you have to remember these are my grandpa's friends so they aren't really the youngest people, kept shootin me dirty looks in my AC/DC T-shirt.

Neither of my parents played an instrument, but my dad brought me up on all the good music.

My mother played a little piano when she was younger, and my father never played, they were always very musical though, my dad plays air guitar and air drums like no other though haha. My grandfather was a crazy jazz and big band historian and was crazy into music, thats prolly where i got it from

Neither of my parents played music. My mom can't sing worth a flip, to the point that we all rush through Happy Birthday just so we don't have to hear her sing, but my Dad did raise me on 50s and 60s rock and a little bit of 70s, so I had a good musical background with what I listened too growing up.

Now that my band is playing out, and I'm getting a little bit of money from that, both my brother and my sister have picked up an interest in wanting to learn to play guitar.

Yeah it has been great growing up around music. It is a blast to get out there and play a gig with family. And the best part is we all know that we are reliable and we always know everyone is going to show up.

My parents were really into music and that spilled over got me playing, now my kids love it and they all are very into music (all kinds) it's great to have an 18,14,5 and all of em are into classic rock, old motown etc.... great when this type of music comes on or I pop it in and they're like.. turn it up and they all know the words. My youngest I think is going to be the prodigy, pics up the guitar, bangs on the piano (all w/some melody), makes up his own words/songs (as well as a 5 yr old can) just makes a DAD proud to have a musical family, it's so important to their development.

i don't think my parents played anything but my dad wants me to play the Blues.

i got interested in guitar because my oldest brother played a Strat -- my second oldest brother... i don't know yet but if i had some cash i'd probably give him a Squier Tele for a gift.

so far i got 4 people into playing guitar/bass. :D the more the merrier... and so that i have someone to jam with.

Neither parent played an instrument, but there was music playing in the house constantly. My grandfather did play the guitar and mandolin. He was born in Yugoslavia and lived in Canada for ten years. His side job/night job was playing in a band. He lost touch with playing as the years went on. I went to visit my grandparents for six months in Belgrade, Serbia in 1999 and got him playing my Gretsch at age 96, after a 30 year hiatus! I have pictures and he looks like he is in a trance while playing. It was very moving to see him like that.

No, but they ballroom dance which requires rhythm, timing, and an appreciation for music.

Almost no one in my family plays a musical instrument and no one at all in my immediate family plays. They sing awfully, though.
