When you look at the photos on the page http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=2350500000 you can clearly see on the one of the back that the amp is Made in Indonesia.

Ah...where do I start...

-Great sounding patches/effects/sounds
-"Composition Mode" that lets individual measures be combined into entire songs, a phrase sampler with overdub capability, and rear-panel speaker and line outputs. Optional four-button footswitch controls program selection and stop/start functions.
-50 factory and 50 user presets
-84 patterns including drum beats, bass lines, and other instruments providing musical backing
-Individual measures can be extracted from onboard patterns for use in Composition Mode
-Internal synthesizer with MIDI interface allows playing with MIDI song files via computer. -Every general MIDI instrument from Piano to Percussion is inside.
-MIDI song files can be loaded from computer and stored onboard.
-Easy-to-use automatic guitar tuner
-CD or MP3 devices can be hooked up with the G-DEC for "play along" capability
-Internal 28 second Phrase Sampler can sample the incoming guitar signal to create loops, or song snippets from CD/MP3 may be captured for careful study.
-Phrase Sampler can do "sound on sound" overdubs
-Left and Right line outputs have speaker-emulated response for stage or recording use; may be selected for ALL or SYNTH & AUX ONLY
-External Speaker Output

I probably left a few things out, but you get the point I hope.

++ on what Mike said.

The Bass version of this amp, the B-DEC 30 is on the top of her GAS list - she wants it to help here learn the Bass better.

The Bass version has even more features that deal with getting on your groove. :P

That feature is not listed for the G-DEC 30.

The B-DEC 30 does have a feature described on page 3 of it's manual and in the B-DEC 30 Method Book that allows such control over the drums and bass tracks in the pre-recorded loops.

Thanks for the summaries and confidences; a little amp to drag around is on the list.

How decent is the sound quality at low volume, clean? Can it bring out the crispness, full round of a good axe with new strings for jazz and lounge?

'Not wanting any distortion at all at coffee-house volume.

No, but there is an inexpensive device that will do that for you. It will do voice cancellations, has 2 independent mic channels and stereo line I/O:

Many karaoke people use them, but it has other applications and under $40 for the unit :

Now, used with the G-DEC 30 and a computer and you could load a lot of backing tracks to jam with :)

Its a cool amp to practice with - ive had one for a while now - I havent gotten into the features nearly as deep as Miami Mike, but I have really enjoyed playing with it! I recommend it!

It sounds fine at low volumes btw!
