Hey all!!!!!!
New to the fender lounge.
But i had a question.
I'm lookin for a real dirty blues sound outta my strat.
Just like Joe Bonamassa's.
I need to do this on the cheap too so i was wondering what your thoughts are on this.
I have a crate palomino V32 and it sounds soooooo good. But it doesnt have the low end response i want with my strat.
I also have a Pignose G40V which is more for a classic blues sound through a 15" Eminence Big Ben speaker. Really good amp especially for the money.
So anybody got any thoughts suggestions?
They would be much appreciated. :D

Check out a distortion or fuzz pedal maybe, and adjust the settings to your liking. Boss has that Blues Driver pedal that may interest you as well. Or keep adjusting the eq and gain on your amp (if so equiped) til you find that sound. It sounds like you have some decent gear already though...
I never really studied the JB sound, but that's my guess.

Oh and as for some advice...an over drive pedal should help...a couple suggestions that you should be able to get for cheap(less than $50) are the Danelectro Cool Cat Overdrive and the Boss SD-1. I have owned both and they are quality overdrive pedals.

Also try some heavier strings, I use Ernie Ball 10's on my strat and I can get a real gungey tone out of her.

thanks for all the advice so far guys.
I already got a good pedal though (tubescreamer) and my strats strung up with 12's and my teles got 11's so i got plenty of tone with the strings.
I was thinkin of more along the lines of a good cheap tube amp thatll gimme a good thick overdrive with plenty of bottom end. I know ideally a Marshall Silver Jubilee would be the way to go, as well as a budda superdrive but I'm in college and funds are really limited.

funny to see another CNY'er (other than me) here looking for another CNY'ers tone (JB)... anyway on youtube JB shows his amps and pedalboard so that would give you a good idea.

His live rig when i saw him in feb was a Marshall silver jubilee, Van Weeldon (sp?), dumble overdrive special and i think a two rock but im not sure..

linky: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?op=10 ... 1609673194

pedals: he uses a tubescreamer reissue, a custom fuzz, another fuzz, boss dd3 delay and some others that i cant remember at the moment..

to get his tone, you will probably want something marshall based and put a tubescreamer and a fuzz in front of the amp and eq it with the mids pretty high (7-8), bass about the same and treble a little lower (3-4). that should approximate his current tone.
