I'm between partners and taking advantage of the fact that I can practice as much as I want, buy whatever gear I want, etc. My sister was visiting this week and I bored her to death with guitar talk, songs, iPod mixes, YouTube examples of great solos and gear shootouts, etc etc etc. But in general she, and everyone else, has been very supportive of my beginner efforts.

Ellen you need to remember, when you are talking guitar to people who aren't into it, you are speaking a different language. I catch myself at work all the time, I say something, and get nothing but blank stares, except for one other guy, who understands, then I have to explain what i am talking about.

She is "tolerant". But likes to hear me play with people. She just doesn't like to hear the practicing. But.....lets me get gear, without too much fussin', when I want it.

Mrs. Krashpad puts up with it and rarely complains.

However, she long ago tired of going to gigs and such.

Yes. We are both players. Have played together in some situations and separately.

We're both kinda semi-retired now. She's a private music teacher. I don't play out all that much any more.

Through the years there have been some differences in opinion about certain projects and situations, but overall we've supported each other.

Since I started playing in an all blues band, my wife has become Very supportive. She absoluetly loves the blues and I played everything but.

Still doesn't like the money I spend though.

No real complaints from or about her about music or instruments.

She's not into it (TV is her preferred free time), so does not care or listen consciously except often attends the same Mass where her husband plays bass.

She seems to enjoy tho telling folks in social situations, about the bunch of "guitar stuff" her wretched victim has in various places.

My girlfriend is a saint, she tells me that I "have such an amazing talent" and "I'm gonna go places with music in life" etc, which is always such a boost for me.

She even planned to buy me a Yamaha SA2200 from Harrods in London before I stepped in and told her not to spend that dough on me!!

My wife runs sound and lights for my band. She helps load in and out, I don't let her carry anything heavy but she is very much into it. I'm just about the luckiest guy on the planet. She knows I'm a gear nut and never complains about me buying new stuff. The money made from the band pays for new gear and is paying for our vacation this year. Yes, the band has been very successful the last couple years. It has been fun and we are trying to keep the momentum going.
