I am having a little trouble with up strum on the acoustic guitar. I can do it better, however not great on my STRATOCASTER. I am not sure why there is a difference. Any advice would help. :?:

The strings are heavier on an acoustic - just keep practicing, you'll get it.

well first off, the electric guitar strings tend to be a little more solid if you know what i mean. try not to push inward while strumming and just act as if you can do it like a pro. eventually you will get the hang of it..

Thats something that comes with practice. Acoustic play feels much different to me. I find it much less forgiving.

try not to think about it so much and just keep practicing. sometimes thinking to much gets in the way.

I had that problem too in the beginning.
Try loosening up your wrist, and let go of your grip on the pick a little.

Acoustic guitars are harder to play than electrics. The strings are fatter, particularly on the low end, and not so easy to manipulate. I'm a huge proponent of the Keith Richards theory that electric guitars should be avoided at home because playing acoustic will make you a better player. Now that's a subjective claim, but it seems to work for me. Banging away on one of my dreadnoughts is more satisfying when I pick up my Tele: the thing feels like a dream!

Just keep working, keep banging away. It'll come.
