They definitly sound cool. It's not a new sound, but it's nice to hear something like that again.
Didn't expect something like this from Chad Smith! ( he's also the drummer in the Red Hot Chili Peppers.)

He also drums for Glenn Hughes on his solo stuff.

I almost get a Deep Purple-ish vibe from the second one....

I just had Montrose on yesterday (while cleaning the garage) and I sure do like Sammy's voice in that band, this music reminds me just a bit of the Montrose "sound".
When I listened to those song clips, (before knowing who the band was), the first thing that came to mind was "Montrose". :P What ever happened to Ronnie Montrose?

Yeah. There is some tie-in between Chickenfoot and Best Buy. Here is a pic from the gig.

Chickenfoot is going to be a great band, each member truely contributes to their sound. I especially like Joe Satriani's contribution, but that isn't a new opinion coming from me... Sounds great so far...

This going back to about 1985 ... but does any one remember HSAS? Hagar-Schon-Aaronson-Schieve

It was a one-album sort-of-supergroup project composed of Sammy Hagar, Neal Schon, and the cookin' rythm section from Billy Squier's band (Michael Schrieve & Kenny Aaronson).

They released one very good live album (I was at the show). It is the only Neal Schon I will listen to, and miles better than any of Hagar's solo stuff. Actually, it is a great album ... worth checking out, for sure.

"Not a new sound..."

Man, you've got that right.

It's kind of cool to hear Satch in a real band kinda setting. But, seriously, I can't drive 55.

I saw them in Marin County, CA. That was a smokin' show! I have seen Sammy three times. He always puts on a great show.

I can't wait for the new Chickenfoot album and tour. It is classic rock back to it's roots!

This is a welcome pace from the crap that passes for music today. I like it, and when their first album comes out, I think I'll get a copy!

I read the gig was at a Best Buy store ... for the employees!

I guess a little corporate sponsorship goes a long way.
