Actually, he's dead. He would have been 100, but he died along time ago.

Could be because has not owned Fender since 1965. Alot of his years after were when he founded and designed things for Musicman like the Stingray and then he went on to start G&L with George Fullerton and Dale Hyatt which took him back building guitars like the Strat and Tele again and working on enhancements to the original designs. Fender has not been Leo Fender for a long time. The great Fender instruments today are from a unsung group of builders and people who took a company that was going down and turned it around in 1985 when it became Fender Musical Instruments.

the point is he's still the founder and if it wasnt for
him there wouldnt be a fender company at all.

LMFAO,SLAPCHOP I know he is dead, but the bottom line it is like comparing the company to america we have Washingtons birthday I mean cmon. And the only reason FENDER hit the skids all those years was because CBS made television shows and not guitars they drove it into the ground and almost destroyed it .The bottom line is the TELE AND the STRAT 2 of the 3 most important guitars (the 3rd the LES PAUL) in history are LEO and his crews babies and something should be done to honor someone we all are grateful to.

And don't forget the Precision Bass, the first fretted electric bass in the world. Before that, bands had to play an upright bass fiddle. Even if Leo had never invented the Stratocaster (I shudder to think), the P-Bass alone would have established his place in history.
