hi iandestreza,

ash will be mostly used for sunburst painted guitars. reason is the graining.
the look of the through shining graining is here in front.
alder has not so nice graining so this wood used for full covered painted guitars. here is the colour more important.

cheers :D

IMO there isn't much difference besides the cosmetic one.

The grain of Ash can look so good!

in the e-guitar sector is the body wood sound not so much important as in accustic sector.

hart ash: brillant, long sustain, good attack
swamp ash: a ballance between brillance and warm

alder: growlier, fuller, earthier, as ash

cheers :D

Plus you have to remember there are different kinds of Ash used in guitars.

MY guitar has a beautiful sunburst finish on it, so i guess that's courtesy of ash, according to these cool facts. 8)
