I have been playing for 1 month now after a 31 year hiatus and spend on average 1-2 hrs a day practicing. I don't have much of a life as I work 50 hrs a week. I am convinced I never played this good when I was younger. I think it's the quality of the guitars I have now compared to when I was younger. I also feel the internet has a lot to do with it. I have been doing some of the lessons on you tube. Didn't have personal computers let alone the internet 31 years ago (the dark ages). Sharing information now is light years ahead of back then. I try to break it down 50/50 to practicing scales and learning some songs. Don't laugh but the latest effort is Bachs Cantata. I like pretty much ALL music especially blues. Anyone have any input? I heard someone say play with a metronome on another thread. I don't own one but I was a drummer first so rhythm has never been an issue for me.
Are there any hand exercises you do to strengthen your hand and fingers? I have been trying to do warm up exercises with just my pinky to try and strengthen that as well.

I've been playing a year and I practice about 30 minutes to an hour a day playing' songs. But at the start I'd spend more time pefecting my technique. I'd it each string diferent seeds and stuff now it's just natural for me!

atleast an hour a day. I usually start with scales to get my fingers loose. Then just run thru chords in random order, to get the strings loose. Then I play as many of the songs and riffs that I have time for. Its good practice, plus it keeps me from forgeting the stuff I've already learned. :?

I practice every Friday and Saturday with the band, and the rest of the week I usually just play while watching tv. That generally lasts anywhere from 1 -3 hours. Except thursday, I play bass for about an hour because I have my bass class friday afternoon.

I was still in high school when I started and since it was before I had a job I would come home and play for about 4 hours nonstop to build my callouses and familiarize myself with chords and the order of notes. I don't get to practice every day but when i do I try to make time for about an hour or so.

At least an hour, most of the time around two or three. Some days I've gone for seven to eight hours. It builds hand strength real fast that way.

Actual practice? Veritably no time spent focus-edly.

Most of the time it's pick up a guitar after a long work day or on a blessed part-day off and just play whatever is in the soul-mind-fingers combo. Last night, 2 hours spread across three instruments, mostly lounge and jazz, little bit of folk-rock and a few show tunes.

I try and play several times a week, but then.....I do have "another" life. So......I know that if you don't play, you'll lose it very fast, so I always try and sit down and practice several hours a week. Also..I get panicked if I feel my calluses are going away.....so I'll just to keep that, if anything else. I've been playing in a band....so when it doesn't seem easy....I'll crank up my practices.
