I've owned the Roland for a number of years now and really like the little bugger.I'm 55 years old and have nice equipment and tube amps so I like to think I have a pretty good ear.I listen and play all kinds of music .I'm not into super heavy ,tune to c guitar sounds.
First I tried them out with out other music playing. The Crate is a lot louder than the Roland.I liked the Roland better for clean sound and the Crate better for the overdrive sounds. The Crate has 6 more amps to chose from. All of the Roland sounds are usable for my taste. Some of the Crate sounds are terrible in the higher gain amp settings. The Crate buzzes like crazy if you dont have batterys in it.Take the battery cover off ,buzz gone. The Roland effects are adjustable but limited. The Crate has seperate delay and reverb but your modulation effects are not adjustable. The Crate batterys last 5 or 6 hours,The Roland batterys last for eons (20 hours and more). The Crate has a 5 year warranty, 2 years on the speakers. The Roland had a 1 year warranty. The Crate has 2 speakers so some of the effects are stereo.
Now the acid test.I put some backing tracks on and jammed clean ,light od, and heavy distortion on both amps set at the same volumes with a a-b switch. For pure playing enjoyment neither one got the edge they both are a lot of fun.The Crate is just as good as the Roland in my opinion.Considering it can be had for 52 bucks at G.C. it is a no brainer.I'm going to keep them both I guess and when one breaks down I will still have a mini amp to mess with.

The guitarist in a band i auditioned a while back use a crate V33 (i think). That thing sounded absolutely great. Creamy as a whirlwind going through a dairy.

Got the bass one... looks good at the store but has some long term issues I should have got the 200wtt peavey. Not the best amp I'm sure the guitar one isn't the best.

All I was trying to say is that the Battery powered MINI amp is a great bargain for $49 at GC I'm not a fan of there products normally. If you need a little mini amp try this one out.

Well, ive only been playing electric for a year but a friend of mine owned a roland miccrocube and when i told him of my intetions to buy a Telecaster he offered me the microcube for only 60 bucks.

So, i jumped at it figuring hey even tho its only a 2 watt amp it normally sells for twice what he's asking and he had just upgraded so didn't need the cube anymore and it worked out well for both of us.

i like the clean sounds and some of the funky reverb effects and to be honest i havnt used batteries in it yet because im not comfortable enough in my skills to play it out.

I have played a friends mini marshall amp when he let me try his Les Paul and to be honest i thought my little Microcube sounded better than the Marshall.

I guess it all comes to down to if you like it or not, can you get the sounds you like and i don't listen to other people too much because i think every piece of gear no matter how inferior has something to offer.

I believe there's a strat with roland technology built in but i cant remember the price or if they make in mim or not but i like my Roland =)
