All of this thread has got me thinking that theres a certain element of magic or something very appealing about just plugging a guitar into a amp with a minimal ammount of effects and making it work.

I agree 100% on the theory of the less effects on an amp the better quality sound. I'm talking tube amps here. 8) And hand wired!

Yeah, we buy all these effects and then we set em out and set em up, then try and get the sounds we used to get in the old days, when we didn't have all these effects.

Rhumba as always your right mate. I only want the copycat for the marvin sound. I'm not after a ac30 or ac15 though :?

Just goes to show that GAS is utterly irrational.

Hey Ninja,
The copycat's were brilliant for the shadows sound but an ac30 and a red strat, not necessary but............... :D

On a more serious note, I've got to say g.a.s. worries me, like you say man it is irrational, we do seem to spend a lot of unnecessary money on gear we don't really need but then....isn't that the definition of g.a.s. ?
I'll shut up, I'm trying to say something here but I don't know exactly what.
And so.......forward.

BTW, that's a nice clubman amp, they definitely had character in those days.
