They are called by the same name but very differnt, how do you tell the differnce when talking to someone?

Replacement pickup cover vs flashy shiny metal throwback cover? I don't know. One of them appears to be for a J-bass and the other a p-bass pickup. then again I have seen some jazzys with p-bass pickups. Everything I know about basses is imploding!!!!

Just kidding. Funny observation though.
