Hey FenderCats-

I use a Marshall Blues Breaker II and I like it. I have a 2000 Fender Hot Rod Deluxe so I also use the drive channels on it- the mix gives me both the boost and the fuzz I want for playing Classic Rock and Hard Edge Blues.-

Hate to sound like a broken record but my best advice would be to try a bunch out at GC (then buy it off Musicians Friend..HEHEHEHE)

Musician's Friend and Guitar Center are the same company up at the top....

For right now....You dont pay sales tax when you order from Musicians Friend...Saves a little..

The Maxon OD-9 starts off as a "true bypass", unlike the Ibanez. Here's the place where I got mine modified, http://www.madscienceworks.com/
A guy named Yonce did the work, and he put in a three way switch, one for Fat 1, Fat 2, and one for Stock.
I really like this pedal and the way Yonce worked his wonders. Very satisfied.

Whether you pay sales tax through Musiciansfriend depends on the state. I'm in Washington and get charged.

Their shipping is free if your order is a hunerd or greater.

I use the Marshall Guvnor - it suits my needs just fine.

I use a Guvnor and a TS9DX. The tubescreamer really doesn't have the sauce of the Guvnor but has a good classic od tone.

After 38 years of playing I'd have to say it really depends on your amp what pedal will sound the best.I have a old MXR distotion plus thats sounds killer through a old Champ but sounds like crap with most other amps.I have 5 od/ dist on my pedal board and I use them all for different sounds and settings.Right now I'm really digging my Carl Martin AC tone through my old Traynor.Next week it will be somthing else so try a lot of different pedals and keep them all.I dont know how many times I've sold a pedal and lived to regret it.

My amplifier is a Tubeworks Mosvalve model from the early '90s... back when B.K. Butler was involved with the company. I don't use a separate overdrive because this thing has basically got the old RealTube rack pre-amp built in, and it screams.

B.K. Butler is still building his Tube Driver pedals by hand, but they're pricey. If I were in the market for bluesy overdrive, I'd try to hunt down one of those RealTube or -- better yet -- BlueTube MkII units. They're usually pretty cheap if you can find them, and they still work fine for the most part as they're virtually indestructible. I want to find one myself in case something ever happens to my amp. Play through those things, and you'll feel like you could one day -- just possibly -- attain Gilmouresque heights! Slap on a bit too much echo and you can be Eric Johnson...heh. Nah, I love E.J., and you can really hear what the Tube Driver brings to his sound.

I know what you mean. My tube screamer was disappointing through my 15w Marshall. When I used it with a DSL 50, it sounded so much better.

Ibanez Tube Screamer
TS 808, TS 9, or TS 10.

TS 5 and TS 7 are trash :P

I test drove the Boss Blues Driver for about an hour while I was waiting for my Girlfriend to pick out a Wireless Mic and some Bigger P.A. Mains. I got pretty familiar with it, and like it quite a bit. Very different than a Tube Screamer. It's more like BB King or even Clapton's Overdrive. It helps a lot with the Woman tone. It was a good mix with the Metal Zone for some serious Deep Distortion with a lot of Pick attack. What fun that was.
