Here's some stuff you should probably be able to enjoy right away:
Arctic Monkeys
BOB MARLEY!!! (I mean... c'mon dude, you gotta have that stuff)
Bootsy Collins (funk)
Cage The Elephant ( Rock , sortof)
Deep Purple? Dire Straits? Mark Knopfler?
Fleetwood Mac?
Franz Ferdinand (especially the first album)
Jack Johnson (prolly not, huh?)
Jeff Beck
Parliament (funk)
Peter Tosh (More Reggae! :))
Red Hot Chili Peppers (especially the older, more funky albums, like Mothers Milk and Blood Sugar Sex Magik, and yes, it's magic with a k.)
Toto , that will fit into your repetoire right away
The Who, maybe?

Tougher stuff:
The Mars Volta
Sigur Rós
Muse(less tough than the other 2)
Radiohead! This took ME lots of time to learn to enjoy, but now... it's like heaven!
Tom Waits ( probably for old men, but I like it!)

good luck man, make sure you try at least one song of each of this artists, give m a chance.

Billboard has an ever changing list of new music :

You can search by genre for new, old and everything in-between!

Buckcherry hasn't been mentioned yet.

Neither has Weezer.
