I am certain what I'm going to buy next. I have $500 and I'm going to buy a Gretsch. Im going to save up $200 more its either the Pro Jet ($500) or the G5120 ($600). They both play well, I'm in no hurry, but I will go there and sit down and play both for at least an hour each.

Pro Jet Pros:
Nice Black color
Bigsby
Neck is Fast
Nice Pickups
Classic Looks
Only 4 controls

Pro Jet

G5120 Pros:
Orange color is refreshing
Bigsby
Pickups are nice
Wanted a Nice hollow body
Neck is Nice
CON: Too many controls

Go play both. Gretsch's are different kind of animal. I have bought several and never bonded with them.
They are great guitars, but they are not for everyone.

i've actually looked at both of these guitars and i think theyre great... and also very different. i really like the pro jet's mellow tone for a solid body, solid feel and looks. The G5120 has an awesome hollow body tone and at that price for a Gretsch, its hard to beat. I have a pretty percussive style of play so i got a lot of pops and what not from the G5120 (strings making contact with pickups, etc.). I think its really the type of music you're into. I've always felt hollow bodies are tough to do anything with other than a jazz-esque or certain country styles of music, i didn't play with any gain in the store on the G5120 so I'm not sure about feedback issues and what not. I'd play these two guitars in two very different situations... For me, i would determine what type of sound i could designated the guitar for and then making my decision from that.

I like blues, classic rock and jazz and I don't use much gain, Only when I want too, I would never use gain on a Hollow body and I dont' use high volume

My 335 copy (my teacher borrowed it) has like built in distortion its weird but awesome!

At guitar center where I found them they have a 92 Guild hollow body thats a artist series they wanted $4,000! I want it If i had the money.

yeah we play similar genres my friend... yeah i have a professor that is huge into jazz and throws some 808 overdrive on his 335 to give it something else. i wish i had that kind of money. so you have a semi-hollow, those are pretty applicable to some different styles and it looks like you have some pretty diverse solid bodies (all under the Fender name... Kudos!)... i'd probably look at the G5120 then. I study classical/jazz for my minor right now... its a little more classical though but I looked at the G5120 for my jazz work. Its a fine guitar for a great price. man talking about these makes me want to run to the music store and play them. haha

Good luck with either, I am sure you will be very happy..I have a 6120 W '57 Eddie Cochran Now called Chet Atkins. A "dog ear" neck pickup, (it's a single coil P-90) one DynaSonic single coil bridge pickup, and clear pickguard. It has the G brand and is a very cool sounding guitar

I've enjoyed using gain with a hollowbody since the 70's. Ever since I heard Steve Howe playing that ES-175 of his. Take a listen to Siberian Khatru.
