The elusive Tele, nice one BT, thanks for posting the pix dude. You know I speak with guys who have Pink Floyd in their blood (at least they claim to  ), yet they swear blind that DG never played a Telecaster in his life. Go figure eh Image

Doc, you need to go and take a pic before it closes with your shirt on. Beat Ceri at it! 8)

I began studying music on that street nearly 55 years ago. It was a different 'alley' then. Manny's was the upscale leader there, but there was "Jimmy's" and "Terminal" (which was owned by the father of a guy who married my ex-wife's cousin). There were also a lot of brass, horn, woodwinds, strings, and percussion specialist on the upper floors.

I learned that Manny's had be acquired by Sam Ash through another one of my traveling companions whose mother worked for the latter for years.

I remember having an interesting conversation with Bo Diddley during a lunch hour visit one day about 15 years ago. Time and tide will have their way.

I''ve some other ideas for that photo, once this eye of mine heals. I'll leave it to Ceri to fly the pond and make it here on a Monday night to capture that image for posterity. Then we can wlak to Broadway, head up the street a few blocks and catch Les Paul at the Iridium. On the way, I'll show him where Tin Pan Alley used to be...The Brill Building at 1650 Broadway, and other remnants of a stellar music history in that part of town.

Doc

Though I live in Florida (for now), I'm a New orker through and through. I grew up in Manhattan and my father worked in the Garment District.

My son is thinking of applying for advertising there (he is currently at UMass Lowell in Audio Engineering. How is the program? Anything to be aware of or tips to getting in? Do you like it? How are the dorms (if any)?. I would be interested in hearing about it...he is here for his spring break, so if you can contact me at bluerex02@yahoo.com, we would both be interested in hearing your thoughts and opinions. Thanks

Here's a shot my son took of me browsing at Manny's last month. I haven't been to NYC since '88 so we had to check out Manny's. I wonder what is going to happen to all those pictures?

Well, there's a familiar sight. Right in front of the alcove where the Fender guitars are found. Those pictures, being the property of Sam Ash, Inc., will be retained in their archives pending the right public relations moment, I suppose.

Doc.
