acoustic playing is much, much, harder than electric. the strings are thinker and really make your fingers hurt. buy hey, tougher calluses.
i played for hours after learning how to fingerpick. acoustic will help your electric playing greatly.

Sometimes, I'll jam on my 12-string acoustic, for a while, then switch to one of my electrics. Talk about "a lightning fast neck," when I'm on an electric, compared to the acoustic 12! I could get the same effect from my Epiphone Les Paul Jr. 90, right now...having strung it 12-56. I really do need to go backward a gauge or two, on that one, for being a 24 3/4" scale.

I just picked up and played, (after tuning), my old Yamaki 12 string. It blew me away - the rich, full sound and feel - even with old strings!! I'd been playing my Strat so much I'd nearly forgotten what a great player my acoustic was. I think it's very valuable to play both.

Acoustic is definitely much harder. Going from my new Ibanez which has a pretty darn thin neck to an acoustic, it's a big difference. I love playing acoustically though.

I'm in the process of trying to learn the technique John Mayer uses in "Neon" seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzsEzD2fVwE (check it out)

i play mainly acoustic, in fact, i just sold my strat do to the fact that it wasnt getting used...and the 212r i was using isnt mine but anyways i would saycheck out some videos on youtube or something to see if there are easier way to finger a chord or something like that.

acoustic definatly is harder to play but i think it sounds better
