Thanks. My parents are 85 and 83 years old now, so stuff like that kind of reminds me of mortality, since they were once very strong people, although my mom still is pretty tough, and my dad, too. He was doing was is an essentially manual labor job, being lawn service, in Florida before his stroke in his 80's. That's not exactly an easy job, especially in the summer down there. I've done it, myself, for many years. I don't know what is going to happen with them, but I hope they'll be around for awhile longer.

My mom is the only one left, and she's just shy of 90. Nobody knows, that's for sure.

That's true. That's why I think it's important to try and make the best use of the time you do have.

Paul. I don’t know how it works in the States; but, for the most part, in Canada the government(s) will either offer or dictate elderly and/or needed support, although it is not always preferable, but could be, depending on the situation, location, and/or services and facilities available.

Government support affords individuals care and residence that is pro-rated and garnishing based on one’s ability to pay according to their income. Other sponsored services may apply such as being a qualified veteran or other organization member.

Medical concerns can be addressed with nursing help both in facilities and at home. Meals may be included, and more. You will find well to do and low income individuals using the same services without penalties for having a low income. Some are 24/7 care homes and others are apartments or condos. The trend today is, likely because of aging baby boomers, to keep and support Seniors in their homes.

If your parents could use help now or later, Paul, you might find something similar that fits or helps their situation on your side of the border. One size does not fit all, but sometimes there are advantages for the family. Hope your folks are doing fine.

Good Night everybody.

and keep the faith hurricane, concert, and all other survivors. You are not forgotten. Tonight brings a new tomorrow.

My sister lives with them, and I have another sister and her husband live in North Carolina, so I'd say they're probably in pretty good hands. Other than other than my mom having this accident, she did get around pretty good. My dad not so much because of the stroke he had. Unfortunately, he doesn't do anything to try to move around much, but my sister tries to keep his mind active. I think he's probably also dealing with depression because of this, since he was one to always putter around with stuff.

Glad to hear your Mom and Dad have family there to help them, Paul. I know caring from a distance can be difficult.

So many things can change one’s ability to do things with age. For some it’s a stroke, but even simple things can be frustrating or disappointing at any age. For example, I see travel opportunities on tv all the time, and I just shake my head knowing I can’t participate where when I was younger I was adventurous and should have had a bigger bucket list that was completed. I used to be in track and field as a kid and now I find any running next to impossible. I miss water sports, some that I did, and some I would like to have done. Maybe not the severeness of a stroke, but still frustrating. I then appreciate the things I’ve done and all that I have and can do. In my case I wish I could unload some activity. Best to your parents.

Matters out of province have kept me from past summer chores, so this year I did a catch up so I only have yard work left to do now and for next year’s Spring and Summer. Whoo Hoo! :D
But, to get there I decided to do very minor touch up on the foundation. The added paint didn’t match because of foundation paint aging and fade. :? Guess what. I did the whole foundation which typically didn’t need it had it not been for the minor touch up with the original paint.
Time to crash and to bid you all a very Good Night and to pass a reminder to wake up to enjoy your day with fervour.

Here's hoping the folks in the Gulf area do ok with Hurricane Nate.
Good Night.

After watching Return Of The Jedi it’s time to travel dreamland in my own starship. May the Force be with you.

Good Night earthlings.

Thanksgiving turkey dinner and pumpkin pie with a nightcap of red wine has put me in the mood for a good night’s sleep. I think I’ll try it now.

Hope y’all had a great day.

Good Night!
