I was a big fan of his 60's and 70's stuff. I didnt like what he did much in the 80's and 90's but since then that he has been clean he came out with a couple of good albums.

Seriously though, I wonder that myself at times. Damn, he'd be older than my parents. I cant imagine an old looking Hendrix. Does someone have access to some kind of forensic graphic software to that we can render one?

If Jimi Hendrix were still alive he'd be mourning the death of Stevie Ray Vaughan- God bless both of them- the yin and yang of heavy metal blues.

I think of them that way- like spiritual brothers- one that leaned toward the heavy metal side of blues and the other that was a bit more traditional- but both of them took the blues to another level and both were so complete.

I don't think I would have ever stuck with the guitar as long as I have without their music and playing styles to inspire me.

When Jimi died I thought there would never be another like him- and when SRV came along I was pleasanty surprised- so never say never.

Please don't even ask me which one I think was better because I can't really compare them that way except to say that while Stevie's playing skills might have been a bit more refined, Jimi was both artistically and innovatively from another world-

The thing is that Stevie had the benefit of Jimi before him- but both were reviving the blues in their own way and one can only speculate that Jimi would have continued to do that.

I don't want to dismiss the contrabution of other great guitarist who have continued in that tradition like EC and KWS and Trower and I don't want to overlook all those great classic blues players that paved the way over the years- they all deserve to be recognized, but this is about Jimi and when I think of Jimi I just can't do it without thinking of Stevie in the same context.

One thing that I'm sure we would have got to see had Jimi lived on was Jimi and Stevie on the same stage- together - can you imagine that? That alone would have been the single most incredible event in the history of rock n roll (IMO). Yes, I'm sure they would have collaborated in some way.

Hopefully somebody that captures that all encompassing quality that JH and SRV so uniquely possessed will come along again someday- soon!

Im an avid Hendrix fan but I have to say if he hadn't died he might not have attained the status of 'guitar god'

He was already a 'guitar god' before he died. Besides ... is "Little Wing", "Machine Gun", "Voodoo Chile", or "Hey Joe" any better because he is dead? I think not...

I'm guessing that he would be a frequent act here in Vegas and I would get to see him often. 8)
