As a matter of fact I am a retired Federal Law Inforcement Officer. I have handled many fire arms in my career. As well as many "Bad Guys" worldwide with firearms pointed in my direction with ill intent. I guess I'm lucky they missed.

My friend, I can tell you for a fact it is better to have a firearm and not need it than the inverse.

As far as joining a club goes, I guess I belonged to a pretty big one for 20 plus years.

I think it would be best to dry out a little behind the ears before you make statements like you have.

Here in the United States it is a right for the public to own firearms. It is a little something we wrote up as an ammendment to the constitution after we sent "your" lot packing. Bush up on your History son.

Now go play in the street and mind the cars Mate!

yeah mate "splash, splash splash",...listen.. I've absolutly no objection to law enforcement officers bearing arms, that way they have the upper hand,God knows your jobs are tough enough, all I dissagree with is members of the general public being able to obtain firearms on the presumption that they or the person/persons giving out permits aren't actually a day or two away from finding themselves unable through whatever reason ( bump on the head, bereavement, divorce) theres any amount of reasons people lose their will to act responsably , and as a retired officer I'm sure you have a list as long as the street you live on.any chance of a brownie point on this.
Also we do actually have guns over here and their becoming more and more common but so far in the main its the bad guys shooting the bad guys , as for sending us lot packing ( yeah right ), :o)

Good argument mate, but as for playing in the street this 50 year old's going to leave that to the kids playing football, the real football

Have a pleasant retirement , go do some fishin :>)

all the best

Now you've done it. Real football? Come on. Those clowns would would get killed if they tried to play American football.

Well being from Tennessee it's only typical to have a gun or weapon of some sorts.

When it's turkey season I go to the county below columbia (is that Lawrenceburg?) but I tend to use a bow or a muzzleloader depending on the season.

Gun owners, here are two great articles from the libertarian Lew Rockwell website with lots of "ammunition" for debating anti-gun people:

http://www.lewrockwell.com/perry/perry39.html
http://www.lewrockwell.com/perry/perry40.html

Some of my favorites:

An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a victim.
A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
Smith & Wesson: The original point and click interface.
64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.
Why do I carry a .45? Because they don't make a .46.
When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

Bad assumption. I played intramural and club rugby back in college. Fun game - the drinking is harder than the game. But it does take leather balls to play rugby....

Got me on the wording there. I assumed you were talking about soccer. I have to agree rugby is tough. I played in Germany for two years when I was in the army. Great way to release stress. 8)

True but how many Rugby guys are like lineman in the NFL (Amercan Football) agile and fast and weigh 300 to 350 pounds Running Backs 200 to 230 then receivers and corners 6' to 6'6" 180 to 230 pounds and as fast as a cat. Plus in a bar (pub) fight give me the NFL team over a rugby team. Chances are half the NFL guys carry to.

Don't get me wrong, I still think the NFL will take them. Like you said, just look at the linemen and the punishment they dishout. Even with all the protective gear guys are getting knocked out cold and worse. Some of the corners in the league can be pretty brutal too.

Just glad the coversations turned around Guys, never will, never was going to win that one eh!! nope no way jose !!
I feel I have to retaliate regarding NFL / Rugby debate though.....agile , fast & monsterously large units playing your game I'll give you that , but could they last a whole game of rugby , I mean we play with one team, no rest till half time, you guys get a break every time a guy drops the ball, then a break every 15 mins, also the offence / defence/ kick return how many guys are in NFL teams, seems like everybody gets 5 mins play then everyone changes , could these large units last a full 40 mins each half, I think we got you on Stamina probably? :>)

True. You have to go back a long way to when the NFL had true everydown players on both sides of the ball. But I still think if the rugby guys suited up to play our game it would be as disastrous for them as our guys trying to play a whole match of rugby.

Maybe when the NFL plays in London next season they could workout an unofficial exhibition match that week. that would be interesting.
