my kid has a student bass (rogue), two pickups, two vol knobs, 2 tone knobs, no switch. the nuts came loose and he spun the pots and broke a couple of connections. anybody have a diagram of what wires are supposed to go where on that type of setup? i searched the web, but came up dry.
thanks,
FTK

Possibly like a Fender? If so: Fender.com>Support>Wiring Diagrams
Then scroll down to the basses. Good luck.

Whenever I look for pickup diagrams, most of the time I can find what I need here:

I think it would be similar to this:
http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wi ... _jazz_bass

But then you take the first lug of one volume pot to the middle lug of one of the tone pots, while keeping both volume pots hooked together as well...At least I think thats all you'll need to do...

you know... i think you're on to something. MF pretty much told me to go jump in the lake.
i'm gonna take a guess that the pots with the green capacitors are the tone pots.
here's where i'm at anyway...
Image
one white disconnected. white seems to be the ground. one green disconnected, and the black wire is totally disconnected. that's the one that's puzzling me. on the two undamaged pots, i can see where the green wire is supposed to be connected. the white end gets soldered to the back of the pot casing.... but i can't tell where the black one is supposed to go. according to the diagram you referred to, i'd imagine it's one of the connections on the far left of the pots,: left terminal on the volume pot to center terminal on the tone.
i'll let you know if i blow something up.
:)

Glad to hear you got it working. As long as you're not working on amps, the possibility of something blowing up is minimal...not saying it can't happen, but chances are it won't...

funny... i just finished putting together a 20 watter from a bunch of junk i had floating around in my attic and garage... plugged the recently re-wired bass into it - neither blew up :)
not bad for a practice thing.
