Hey Fender, I am one of those Gibson / Ibanez guys, haven't owned a Strat or a Tele in about 5 years. Loved them both. I would like to also say the joke our child tried was in poor taste also. We flogged him at Gibson and we also hate the mis-spelling all the time. I am looking into purchasing a 57 reissue in either Sunburst or Surf Green. Hope you will not hold this incident against us and keep on picking

A showmaster or tele deluxe would be my advice to players requiring a humbuckered guitar. Unless ofcourse you want a complete opposite to widen your selection. In that case i'd get a 56 closet classic.

Love that firebird btw.

Yeah!! I once had a Gordon Smith Firebird. I'd like to try the Gibson.

Hello and welcome to the forums! I know my opinion means nothing to you but I really like the Surf Green Color. Have you seen the avatar of the 57 in that color? Beautiful! 8)

Other than the "forum war" some doofus tried to start I thought both forums we're pretty tolerant of each other.

Funny thing is That sill little War someone tried to start turned me on to the Gibson Forum, I'd visited it about a year ago, but it wasn't going off like it is now. I think The Fender and Gibson Forums are perfect counter Parts for each other, just like their guitars. I like the fact you can say just about anything over there. When I'm feeling salty I can go over there and Cuss and Swear and go on about Politics. Over here I can have a music conversation without it spiraling down into a Politcal Typing match.

Axe(R),
Welcome to the Forum. I did notice some silly Gibson -vs- Fender threads a while ago. No big deal, it was taken care of. In my opinion Gibsons are different than Fenders, but it is the differences that makes them good for different players.

I used to own a 70's Gibson Flying V. It was awesome. But that was when I was an unexperiences teenager and I traded it in on another guitar. Now after a couple decades I have done a little down-sizing and the only guitars I currently own are a Fender Highway 1 Stratocaster and an ESP LTD. They are good enough for me, for now. RK

My Mama was a FENDER
That's why they call me MINDBENDER
MINDBENDER. That's my name . . .

Hey no hate with me...

I wouldn't mind a Epi EB-3 or a original gibson grabber, but of course after I get a P bass or two :D

Maybe I missed the point entirely, I don't know. But this thread is almost as old as the forum itself. What's the big deal? Gibson or Fender, who cares. When I grew up If you dident have a Tele or a Strat you dident have a real guitar. Then I ran across a friend that owned a little melody maker. It took all of 5 minutes for me to fall in love with it. Wow what a sweet little guitar. I'm now 68 years old and only in the past year or so become the proud owner of one of each, and I love them all. There is no one better than the others, but different from each other in every way and all equally wonderful. 8)

I didn't respond to this thread the first time around, this time I noticed that almost all of the original poster's haven't been seen in years either. Hope they all come back here sometime soon.

When I originally responded to this thread all I had was my Highway 1 and an ESP LTD QM 100. A lot has changed since then.
