Is anybody familiar with this product and what do you think of it?
I'm looking for something to train my ear and learn songs by throwing in a CD and slowing it down and looping difficult parts and this seems like the right tool.
I just don't know anyone who has a Tascam CD GT2 so I'm not sure what to do.
Any advice?

Thanks

i've not the experience with the Tascam CD GT2 but i use the boss micro br.
(mp3) the functions near the same except recording. what's not so good is the time reduce cause the sound is not more so good but it works if i reduce to 80%. i use it for exercising at home or on the way (holiday).

check the functions before in your local music if it available there and if it the right tool for you.

good luck and cheers
:D

I don't have the guitar version, but I stole my bass trainer from my Dad and use it with my guitar. It really is very helpful for learning fast parts of songs as well as for figuring songs out by ear.

I have the earlier version the GT1 Mark 2. Works really well for just exactly the purpose you highlighted - I would recommend it.

Works great. I replaced an old Denon CD player that had A/B loop function with the Tascam. I also have Amazing Slow Downer on the computer, but I don't really like sitting there doing it.

I thought about a unit that I could download mp3's to but that's more trouble than I wanted. Call me lazy. Even if I download an mp3 to disc, with CD's, I don't have to upload to the computer and then back to an mp3 for all the CD's I have.

I also use the Tascam as a CD player into my PA. It's a good product.

Just picked up a Mk II myself, although I haven't had the chance to use it much. I didn't want to mess with the mp3 player as all of my music is on iTunes. Wish Apple would make an app for iPod that worked like this.
I've been wanting one for a while, but wasn't sure. Found out my instructor has the bass version that he uses. Figured that was a pretty good recommendation.

I have been looking at the CD GT1 as well because you can find used one's online for much cheaper. I read some reviews on the CD GT1 and some are good but there are some bad one's which concern me. Do you honestly like the product a lot? I won't use it for effects, just for slowing down tempos of songs and looping certain parts to learn solos and difficult riffs.
Any help and advice you can pass my way, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

I don't use the effects, either. All I do is use it to slow down songs and loop. And sometimes to blank the guitar part so I can use it as a backing track. I like it a lot.

Perfect. Thanks. That helps a lot because I would only use it for the same reasons you do.........slow down tempos, and loop parts. I have a pedalboard with a bunch of pedals so i'll be using those for effects. The Tascam unit would strictly be used for practicing.
Do you recommend the newer CD GT2 version or should I go with the CD GT1 version that you have?

Thanks

Biggest complaint I've heard about the -1s is that the hinges break easy. looking at mine, I can see why. I burned a disc with a few songs that I'm working on so I don't have to switch discs.
