-failed art student
-vegetarian
-belief in astrology, mysticism, (horoscopes.tarot, palmestry, crystals, the whole shebang.)
-drove a Volkswagen(he actually created the company)
-was a drug addict

Theres a local author/painter whom i used to drink with a dutch/jewish guy who survived belsen. If you get the chance read his book libre macht frei / love will make you free. A very gut wrenching but interesting tale.

You bring this discussion centerstage, to the 'Ilsensteinem' where once dwelled the REAL Dark Lords of The Sith. A Hades within whose Sturm und Drang these emoheads would have certainly known the hellfires and darkness. Those photos up there are a joke in comparison although the atmosphere they convey is not. All thats missing are the uniforms beneath the leather officers coats, the riding crops, the dogs and the two lines....one to the left, to live, for awhile perhaps, and one to the right.....to doom.

My wife's mother (rest in peace) knew Auschwitz-Birkenau in her late teens. The rest of her family never left there. My father-in-law made the camp rounds, as guest of the Third Reich. Not so the rest of his family. My mother in law's cousin Herman, and Elie Wiesel, his childhood friend were both transported from their home village at the same time as described in Wiesels' first writings on the Shoah, "Night", which should be required for airheads like wingfield and company.

Herman, in his own time, wrote a novel in Swedish, not as celebrated as his friend's, but as witness enough entitled "Fire and Light". The title is taken from a comment a rabbi made regarding the news that was coming out of Eastern Europe. "I fear my people are becoming fire and light.'

A photocopy of that work sits at my right hand as I write. It is the closest thing my wife can touch to the world which nurtured her mother, before the Nazi Ring Wraiths and their blackwind came and swept it all away....to become fire, light, ashes and dust.

I had a client one time tell me that Metallica was one of the biggest emo bands out there - This was a few years back, and she had to explain to me what emo even was - I had to explain to her that even though she looked at me as old (33), I was goin to Metallica concerts when I was 14-15 years old, and didnt quite agree with her emo statement, once she explained to me what it was!
