i truthfully want to live that lifestyle but when i saw my mom cry when she saw the deep gashes in my arm i didnt cut anymore, but when it comes to the clothing and the music, she can go screw herself.

Emo has taken on a whole new meaning. The first time I heard the word was in the early 90s and it was in reference to some indy-rock, low-fi sort of sound, like Sebadoh or something...then a few years later I see this craze about EMO, and its something totally different. Most of these bands look like and sound like they are either too punk to be called metal, but too metal to be called punk, or are just too rock to be called metal or punk, but metal and/or punk enough not to be called rock...No wonder Emo-kids tend to be confused...

Hey wm, I'm glad you're not cutting any more and that you cared enough about your mom to stop - but I hope you'll respect her opinions a little more, at least hear her out with respect... you'll probably find out in a few years that she understands more about things than you think she does.

I never got emo. I mean, everyone in life has to go through crap, but emos just feel like they have the right to be pissy and depressing about it. I mean, okay, maybe your parents divorced, a relative died, you get picked on at school, but that doesn't give you the right to go around like you're the prince/princess of death.

Also, cutting is the stupidest s*** I've ever heard of. What is hurting/wounding yourself gonna do?!

Anyway, sorry to rant, and I don't wanna come off as some jackass emo hater/stereo-typer, but this is how I feel.

P.S. That Emo Phillips vid was hillarious!!! :D

It certainly does. However, you have to be older and wiser to understand why. 8)
Didn't wingfield represent that it was now all in the past :?

NOT :!:

This post was not unlike dumping a bag of suger at the entrance to an ant colony. 8)

But ain't emo's just a not-tough-at-all version of punks or goths?
A couple of years ago they were called kittypunks over here, now they're emo's, still looks and sound the same though

My main point of contention is that people focused on looking dark to seem cool or anyone who cuts themselves as a statement utterly belittles depression. To be serious about killing yourself you have to be in a very very dark deep depression. Not be some cut yourself clown who wants to look sensitive.

I strongly suggest these people go and spend a bit of time with some depressed people. See the true horror of someone who's focus'd on killing themselves and will stop at nothing to acheive it.

Only yesterday I spent time on another thread with Eyerish telling him about this 'yo-yo' we blocked from the Forum , now returned with the same nonsense.

Hop's quote from the Godfather is quite appropriate here. If everyone's had it wit wingfield, sing out.

Doc. :?
