Just recently here in SE Missouri, there was quite an ice storm. My mother works for Ozark Border, and when the roads were clear enough to drive, I decided to help her out (with preparing meals for the workers and some paperwork and such.)

Well, I was taking some trash out to the dumpster, and one of the linemen stop me and says "Hey, you're Mary's son, aren't you?" and I say yes. Then he asks me "And you're a big Stevie Ray Vaughan fan, right?" And that shocked me there. Of course I am! Well he told me this interesting story.

Years ago, this guy and one of his friends were strollin' around Memphis, and they come across this guy sittin' on a bench. Looked a bit down, had a ragged old coat, old ragged hat, old Gibson guitar...must of been down on his luck. Well, later that night, this guy and his friend run over to BB King's lounge, listen to him play and such. Suddenly it was announced - "We have a special guest with us tonight. Didn't even know he was in town- Stevie Ray Vaughan!"

And wouldn't you know it. Out walked onto the stage the same man of whom the guy and his friend saw sittin' on the bench. Same old coat, same hat, even same beat-up guitar! Said he must of played for several hours before he quit. This guy said he wasn't a big SRV fan because he hadn't heard much of his music before, but after he heard him actually play, he has been a good fan of SRV since.

What really made the story as interesting as it was is that this guy was as close to SRV as someone talking to another person in a conversation. Truly fascinating, if you ask me!

I thought that was a really interesting story. Thought I'd share it with you guys out there. :D

I wonder what Stevie was blue about? A complex person. Good story man! Thanks!

Sort of reminds me of Howard Hughes. He was known to do strange things like that.
