First things first, saying my guitar (random guitar name) it is perfect for me is not an answer. Im talking all out insane guitars here. I guess I will start it out with a zemaitis pearl front. I have played PRS Private stock and a number of vintage and boutique guitars In my opinoin the Private stock felt like a cheap toy in comparison. I look forward to hearing which guitars you people feel sit above the rest.

I've played a few PRS customs that I liked a lot. Beautiful, great tone, versatile, played well. Haven't touched a private stock though.

I've played a number of hi-end vintage and custom Les Pauls. Never liked them. Tone's good (generic humbucker tone to me, just a tad thicker), and they're beautiful, but I just get no inspiration at all from them. Hate the necks too.

I've played tons of other guitars over the last 25 years. Some pretty decent. Some not so much, some are just overpriced junk. Playing an "insane" high end guitar (and I've played more than a few) doesn't make it a great guitar that I'd ever want. Pretty finishes are nice to look at, but I wouldn't want to scratch it or ever take it to the tons of practices and gigs I play. Tons of features? Not interested. Things that do too many things, rarely do any of them that well. I'd rather have a great one-trick pony than something that half-asses everything - any day. Any my strat, with the way I customized it, can get a ton of great tones for me - all of which I like better than pretty much any guitar.

I can afford pretty much any guitar I want, so it's not a matter of me wanting my "ultimate" guitar real bad but will never have it. Having said that, I still love my custom 98 mia strat. Might not have the most perfect 10-top, or striking inlays, or any other pretty thing you might get on a higher end guitar, but the tone on mine, in my hands, through my mesa boogie, is top notch to die for. And I've never played a guitar that felt that good, inspired my playing in so many ways, and feels so much like "home". I can pick it up, get the perfect tone in my head and not even have to think of what to play. Ideas for anything just flow out when I play it, and they all sound great. I've never played another guitar (other than strats) that I connect with that much. If I did, I'd have no problem buying it.

Strat man for life, and by choice.

Although many of the MIA Fender's have been amazing, surprisingly enough, this Dean Icon I played once blew me away.

I think the best however, was an MIA Jazzmaster.

Hey all....I know I should know this, but I don't. I was hoping someone could enlighten me. Does Fender own Gretsch guitars? I have heard that before, but I don't know how reliable the info is...

Man, I love my guitars like my children. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. I cannot choose, and it could change day to day.

My ESP is such fun to play, sounds killed for the heavy stuff and the FR trem can get so crazy and stay in tune. Very thick sounding. Definitely the best for all out thrashing

The Ventura is my first born, its so versatile and has a vintage vibe to it. It also has great action and is unique. Then there is the sentamental value as it was my first electric guitar. Mom bought it on layaway, against my dads will, and paid for it with her tip money from hairdressing.

Then there is the new strat that gets clean tones neither of the other two were ever capable of. Plus I finally have a guitar that I can see the wood grain on, which I think looks great. I got bored of having painted guitars, especially since both of my others were black, which I like, but 20+ years of only having black guitars...

I sure any future guitar will get the love too.

My fav is my Warmoth WGD. I have a '77 Gibson LP, a '87 SG and a few Strats. I love all my guitars but the Warmoth is still #1.

Played, you said, not specifying, "owned"...

...a made-by-him James L. D'Aquisto New Yorker Deluxe carved acoustic.

Now 'know what a violinist experiences when they play a Stradivari or Guareneri.

Electric, Mosrite Mk I USA '65 Reissue.
