Gratz and Fhop, thanks fella's,
I'm not too sure how the Cavern operates these days, I think they do tours during the day and whether it still opens as a club at night I'm not sure. I'll ring around some old contacts and see what I can find out.
When I played there it was in the 60's and exactly as you must have seen it in old film footage.
But even back then, there was more to it than that. Upstairs there was a sizeable bar area, looking like what us brits would call a pub and I recall there was a fire at some time. I don't know the extent of that and how much of the original survived. The Cavern itself could not have been damaged much, if at all, it was all solid stone I can't imagine what could have burned down there. Anyway I'll find out and get over there as soon as I can and take some pics.
I don't know how much you know about the history of the place but it was a jazz club long before the Beatles and other Mersey groups took over.
Anyway I'll let you know more as I find out more.
I'm looking forward to going there now, I've been living so close and hardly given it a thought before now but that's how it seems to be eh, ha ha
I'll keep you updated as it seems, so of you guys across the pond are interested, so I'll come back on this one.
Take care of yourselves.
Cheers...

And all you other rock n roll pioneers out there in Fender land

Wow!! thanks Snowy, that is awesome, where did you find that ?
Like I said I couldn't remember those guys, just the name of the band but that sound man, that sound, it brings back memories.
If I'm correct I think that record, Shame,Shame figured quite highly in the US charts, our friends across the pond will know about that.
Nice find Snowy, nice find.
Keep up the good work....
Cheers

Yeah Snowy, they sound pop-ish now don't they ? but a lot of the sixties stuff was.
I didn't know Albert Hammond was involved with these. I've just been doing a little research myself and did you know Godley and Creme were in one of their later line-up's.
Yeah, they were a band I'd never taken much notice of, never that big in Britain from what I can remember, probably more so in the States.
That could have been due to Hammond's involvement.
Anyway, nice find Snowy I enjoyed that, something from the sixties archives there.
Cheers pal...... 8)

Hey Rhumba,

I'm really glad you enjoyed the trip down memory lane, I did a journey on youtube last night. All through the 60's and 70's, it was pretty amazing stuff. So there was some 10cc in there too eh, cool 8) The fact you backed up The Magic Lanterns, says a lot about your own band man. They must have been at their height in 1969, kudos dude and respect 8)

Hi Snowy,
The sixties were a great time, we played with a lot of the top British bands of the time. I can remember a few, like, The Searchers, The Ivy League, The Fourmost, Lulu, The Black Abbots, The Rocking Vicars. I could come up with more if I gave it some thought.
Probably the best time of all was right at the beginning, we started doing gigs in '63 but in '64 we got a good break.
We were only 14 years old and we got a residency playing saturday afternoon's in a cellar club in our local town. We basically lived there.
Well saturday night's the big bands would arrive and we got to talk to them in the dressing rooms and then watch them perform.
I'm talking people like Alexis Korner ( who showed me his SG guitar and gave me a quick blues lesson, a great guy ) The Mojo's, The Applejacks, David John and the Mood, Dean Ford and the Gaylords ( who later changed their name to Marmalade ) There were lots. Well we were there for two years, so that gives you an idea.
As an interesting tid-bit, when we were doing the afternoon session, sometimes the night band would arrive early and on one occasion a group called Steampacket arrived, while we were playing.
So there in our audience watching us was, Long John Baldrey, Julie Driscol, Brian Auger and this young up and coming guy called Rod Stewart.
ha ha how's that for an audience.
Anyway I could bang on for hours. Just one last thing, a guy called Jimmy Powell arrived early one day and leapt up onto the stage, sat at the piano and played our session with us.
So if you are still researching the sixties, look for Jimmy Powel and the Five Dimensions and that's the guy.
Hope I haven't bored you.......
Cheers pal.... :D

Someone asked me here not so long ago, just must have missed the thread. Simply right click on the icons you want, save them to my pictures. Go to photo bucket and upload them, as you would a pic. The rest you already know how to do, just like posting a pic man. The ones I have a friend sent me over MSN, any in particular you want but can't find, just request them here on your thread, and I'll stick em up.
