I want to thank all of you guys and gals for your messages and mojo, it really helps being a part of a community like this.
You people are really ' somethin' else '
I will pass your words on to his younger brother, he is a keyboard player and I'm sure he will be moved by support from the Fender guy's.
Who knows ?.............he might even come and join us, no better place to be is there.
So thanks again my friends, love and peace to you all.
Cheers,
Rhumba :D

Hi Rhumba: only just seen this thread - my condolences to you.

Comes a point in life when you go to fewer and fewer weddings and ever more funerals, eh? You come to realise it's the way this thing happens that counts, and it sounds like your friend was able to take that step with a degree of decency - I hope so.

We also learn that they will always be with us - they just happen to be out of the room for now.

My sympathies - C

My condolences too Rhumba.
I don't really know what to say, but I just wanted you to know that I too feel sorry for you and your friend.
May he have passed on to the world of music.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.
Goes with the territory of gettin' older, I guess.
But of course you know they're always with you - hope this thought helps to make it a little easier :)

Thanks Ceri, that's much appreciated man, I know what you're saying.....and you know I do.
My generation goes back to the early sixties and when something like this happens it kinda takes you back to those days with fondness.
Carefree times, when we all thought we were here for ever, never a thought that one day it could end, we were always looking into the future. Planning, rehearsing and dreaming of that day, when we hit the big time. The young guys today are doing the same now.
And like us, some will get there and some won't but that doesn't matter, it's the work and the love you put into it that reflects any reward due to you later...and so we dream and we work.
As we get older, we see our friends and colleagues fall and the sense of our own mortality feels deeper within and maybe it's this that saddens as much as the loss.
So to the young guys I say. " Take your time now and have one helluva time "

Ceri, I may be able to get into Liverpool next week, so I'll take my camera and maybe get a few snapshots. I played at the Cavern club back in around '67 so I might be able to take another look.
Anyway I'm rambling on now so I'll shut up.
All the best.
Cheers. :D

Shut up - I doubt you'll be permitted! I heard the sound of eyes popping wide open across the world as you casually dropped that nugget in! There's going to be people wanting to ask things like: what, when, why, wherefore and howcome?!! 8)

Regarding the other, the more we see of it, the more we realise it's the manner of the passing that matters. People close who care is such an important part of it.

And regardless of what we think we believe about this stuff in our heads and our hearts, we keep those people with us for ever more. And that's what counts for them and for us.

All the best to you - C

Ceri,
Ha ha yeah it was about 1967, the Beatles were long gone by then but I remember as we walked in the place, there were plaques and stuff on the walls saying ' The Beatles played here 200 or whatever times, I can't remember now the exact number but if I get back next week, I'll find out.
Yeah, we were stood on the stage and looking out at the arches, you must have seen the inside on old video shots and to be there, seeing it, feeling it, was almost like a spiritual experience.
I was only like 17 at the time, all of the group was apart from the drummer, who was even slightly younger. We had been together from 13 year old kids and our name was The Bluenotes. We changed our name in '69 to Godfather.
Anyway, on this particular night we were supporting a well known band called The Magic Lanterns and I can't for the life of me, remember what they were like. Although my focus was more on the venue to be honest.
So if I can think of any more tid-bits of information I'll let you know, or if you have any questions.......
Okay Ceri, thanks for your interest, if I can get back there next week it will jog some memories I'm sure and we'll talk more, anytime you want my friend.
Cheers. :D
