Somewhat disappointing. I must confess. Outside of a few token windmill shots and the infamous guitar smashing, I have seen very little live Who footage. :?

Good Lord: we'll have to agree to respectfully differ on that one! Some of the most exciting nights of my life spent at those shows. Personal opinion, obviously.

I'm not sure the other Townshend issue is appropriate for this site.

But to address it circumspectly, a huge police investigation failed to find a thing to hold against him - at a time when several other celebrities' noxious activities where being uncovered and prosecuted, and the police were leaving no stone unturned. And perhaps more tellingly: the most rabid tabloid press on the planet went after Townshend like a pack of ravening wolverines and likewise could dig up nothing to put in print. And their standards of proof are not high.

I strongly doubt there was anything behind it - and for legal reasons as well as out of decency we should have the sense to leave it there.

Them's my thoughts, anyhow...

Cheers - C

Seems meaning often gets lost in translation when dealing with text. I love the who. Especially the live from Leeds stuff. I guess I just had over inflated expectations in regards to the story behind Petes' hand damage that particular show. Was expecting a yarn about how he may have started a fist fight with his amps (out of frustration) or something even more outlandish. Again this is likely the end result of little exposure to live footage and being denied the opportunity of seeing them live myself.

it is a matter of opinion but wernt the who famous for how loud there gigs were, if im not wrong there is a certain level or frequncy that when gets to a certain level sounds good to the human ear no matter what music is actually bieng played, this may be very a clever thing to do, but really not making waves on ability on the guitar.if you look at the guitarists around at his time he probebly isn't even in the top 5,again down to personal opinion.

and yes you are right lets get back to talking music, or more importantly,
fingers, how to treat, mistreat or cure!

Hi thumbs: you're absolutely right, I misunderstood what you were getting at. Sorry!

For live footage, to my own taste some sections of The Kids Are Alright are amongst the best rock performance ever put on film. Particularly (obviously) the Won't Get Fooled Again and Baba O'Riley sequences.

The Who did a show for that film shortly before those two were recorded which for certain reasons didn't end up getting used in the movie. It was in a theater in Kilburn, North London, and has finally recently been released on DVD. They were out of practice and it is a bit rough around the edges. And yet, as one who was there at the time, I can say that it is about as close as you can get to what it was really like at a Who show in the 1970s - warts-and-all!

Classic stuff to my mind, and highly recommended to anyone out there who feels likewise.

Cheers - C

No harm done and certainly no need for apologies (accepted all the same  ) The majority of us are mature enough to appreciate that opinions often differ and is hardly something to get upset about.

Hi camerilo If you practice constantly even if it is just half hour a day your fingers will be harder all the time :)
