:( I have had him for 7 years, since he was a puppy. he was an english bulldog and everybody loved him :  everybody could tell that he was more like a person, not an animal. he never did anything bad, he even loved my cat, and loved to just relax and cuddle with people. he had a collapsed lung and it caused him to have a heart attack.

Sorry to hear that...it sucks. My sweet pooch is now 11. here is a photo (and please post a photo of yours!
Before you get another dog, give yourself time to mourn and remember all the joy he gave you. Losing a pet is like losing a family member, because that is what they become. Don't rush into getting another dog; the mourning process is extremely important.

i am sorry for your loss...i am also going through the same thing now...my wife and i have been married for almost ten years. she had a cat when we met and of course over the years i became very attached to the cat. we found out last week that the cat had feline leukemia. she died monday night at home.

i have never been so attached to an animal before. she really brought alot of joy to me and my wife. i am suprised by how much this really hurts. it definately is equal to other losses i have experienced before. i have heard people say it is like losing a family member and that is really true.

again, i am sorry for your loss. take care.

Sorry for your loss mate. Ive been a companion to many dogs since i was a toddler. Its never easy when they go. Every time i lost one i swore thats the last i cant go through this again. Their agro, they eat, poop, demand attention. Its not worth the heartache when their gone.
Still i get suckerd in again and again.

Honour your dog mate it was a good companion, nothing beats a good temperamented dog.

To Strokes,

Sorry to quote Niki, but I really couldn't say it any better. My present dog is a golden retriever, just about 12 years. He's still pretty healthy but I know (shudder), it ain't forever.

Sadly,
Gridlok

They are called Pets but the emotion they generate goes beyond that. They are always themselves, always true, always reminding us to live the "Here and now". They trust us with their lives and always look out for us. Humans have lived with cats and dogs for thousands of years and it doesn't go like this without a mutual complicity. All the mammals share a similar way of coming to life, living with others and in the end, go away. We have a lot in common and it shows. Some people may think that I exagerate but I have lived with cats long enough to know better and come to my own experience and judgement.
For sixteen years we lived with Fannie. A small grey long haired vindicative female cat. In fact she let us live in her house. About ten years ago we had to bring her life to an end because she was very ill and old. About a month after her death, one night I dreamt that I was walking in the same alley I used to take a walk with her every day or so. Then at the end of the alley there she was staring at me, after a moment she turned away slowly and walked passed the corner of the alley and she was gone for good. I guess that my mind had to find a way to say goodbye to her and it used the scenario of some good time we had together.
I am sorry for your loss and hope that everything will come up fine for you.
Claude.
