We all got this cool forum for free. How much enjoyment have we received from that? And you know it costs Fender some decent money to run it.

thats a given, kudos for that reply, but still the forum is really a very VERY small part of this site that im sure makes a hell of alot more than it costs to run,
still everyone here did get a great FREE forum full of fantastic FREE tips, ideas, help and entertainment for everone and i thank them and all whom take part for that.

Brad (and everyone else at Fender, IT staff, etc.),
I for one am not looking for anything free from you guys. I really appreciate this site, and really want to thank you guys.
Maybe Fender could have more "give-aways" if they didn't have to hire staff to edit people's posts and delete any porn links...wink wink.

oooohhhhhhh low blow, that was my first post dude and you coming back to haunt me with that ouch!!!!

i never really intended on getting anything free from this topic just thought it would be interesting and people could show off what they got and say na na nana na!

also wondered about guitar shops and if they sell on freebees for profit.

O.K., I'll regress. I apologize if that seemed spiteful. Didn't think it was that low of a blow, but it is hard to get your mood and personality through forums. I am just a tad bit tired of people always wanting free stuff. Gimme gimme! I do see your point of vendors getting some schwag and reselling it in their favor. Promotional items are a quirky thing. What's crap to someone, might be gold to another. Peace.

Since being a member of this Forum, I have received the two Test Drive tee-shirts Fender gave away, but free - hardly! I had to go to my local Fender dealer, try out a bunch of new Fender gear, fill out a form, and have the dealer sign off on the form. Brutal!!

Also, when they were still available in print form, I used to pick up the Frontline catalog at my local shop.

Hmmm ... Fender just gave away an MIA Strat, Deluxe VM amp, and their new acoustic. Last summer apparently they also gave away that Strat to Gil.

Seems extremely generous to me ... not sure what your complaint is and you're not coming off sounding very good here ...

I'd have to agree with this statement, also senderkirk makes a valid point or two. Lookin good with that gorgeous Strat Gil, enjoy the new amp that's on it's way Image

Free stuff? I got both of the test drive shirts, the ones that say "Play Loud, Go Fast"

And these forums.

Oh, and a buddy gave me a hat for nothing.

Paid for the rest, but all told I got screaming deals on all 3 of my Fenders and that totals about $800, $250 for my Montara, $250 for my Tie Dye Strat, $300 invested the Musicmaster rebuild.

I worked a a Ski resort for most of my Early 20's. I have stuff from KROQ, Jagermeister, Jose Cuervo, Dannon Yogurt, Jolt Cola, and so many other, but never a Fender or Gibson givaway. Ya wanna know why? Because most of those Skiers and Boarders are more interested in Drinking and Listening to Music.

When they were done, there was Bumper Sticker, Plastic Keychaines, Little Plastic Shot Glasses and Crap all over the place for Yard Maintinece to clean up. This lends a Clown like Circus atmosphere that relly sells to the Party Drinkers, but just wouldn't look good for Fender to have their name in all the trash that fallows a givaway promotion. Most Beer and Radio stations givaway klike 10 shirts to frenzy the audience then flood the crowd with the cheap crap.

Bottom line, Fender doesn't need to promote themselves. A beer company giving away crap in a bar is selling the Bar Owner, not the drunks in the bar. If a guitar shop doesn't sell Fender, players don't go there. Fender doesn't have to convince anyone there products sell, and there's just too few guitarist in any given crowd to do that sort of promotion.

have fun with the new amp gil, i went to a fender band jam in scottsdale last fall and they had free sandwiches .did not take photo of said sandwiches but i remember enjoying them .

Thanks, I know I will be having fun. It got here on Thursday, ordered on Wednesday, via ground shipping - NJ to VT via UPS.

It sounds wonderful, and I know I'm going to enjoy it alot. Here's a quick shot - not the greatest lighting - but here she is.
