I know this may not get posted, but here goes. Does anyone besides me think that the new Fender price increase is INSANE? The economy is in the dump, people dont have the money they used to and Fender raises the retails hundreds of dollars. My beloved Teamsters union just agreed to a new contract giving away $140 a week of our paychecks. The working class guitar players cant aford these insane prices. I guess they figure there are enough rich old rock stars still alive that will pay the new prices. Afterall they spend more than that on lunch. I think Fender is a good guitar having owned close to a hundred in my lifetime. But if I buy anymore it will have to be used ones. Thanks for the memories Fender.

There have been many discussions about this...Fender price increases are the least of my worries, as the price of everything is rising...But the Fender prices still are no where near as ridiculous as Gibson prices have been for the last 10 years or so, at least thats my opinion...

Gibson guitars are a whole different guitar. Im glad you are well off to where the price increase doesnt affect you.

I'm not saying that the price increase doesn't affect me, but I am just more concerned with the price increases of other essential items, like food and shelter, than to be overly concerned with the price increases of luxury items...

Supply and demand will most likely drive down the prices eventually or that is how it is supposed to work anyway..............

My problem isn't with Fender but with the retailers. They take their current inventory and mark it up also! A prime example is musiciansfriend. A scratch and dent Eric Johnson stratocaster on Monday was $1500. The same guitar today is now $2000. That's my two cents.

Thank God I'm done buying electric guitars for a while. Looks like I'll be picking up an AC15 instead of a Hot Rod Deluxe, though.

Amen! Just got the "2009 Buyer's Guide" from MF. I see huge increases. I'm putting the 12-string and baritone purchases on hold indefinitely.

The economy being in the toilet is a good and bad thing. Bad that we don't have enough money to buy what we need, but it's a buyers market and, unfortunately, people are selling things to have money to live on. Anybody have a vintage Strat they want to get rid of?
