"A Hard Days Night" by the Beatles starts out with Harrison hitting a G. For many, many years my guitar playing friends and I wondered how he got that big sounding jangly chord. Not a lot of FX for guitarists back in '65, either. We could never make ours sound as good.

Decades later, we found out -- He played it on a 12-string. :?

take a look at this: http://hopelesslypop.wordpress.com/2008 ... les-chord/

Interesting stuff! I had heard of this professor before and I'm still not convinced his theory is correct. However, I tried the G7sus4 myself and it does sound much closer to the record. All I have to compare it to is the take on Anthology 2. All of my vinyl is stored 1,200 miles away.

I find myself playing a G Natural Barre a lot...or the open D. Otherwise, it's mostly just power chords.

Probably a D or a G power chord.

Is that seven string guitar?

Nope, 7#9 is a chord shape popularized by Hendrix and SRV.

Example: X4345X

Of course, it's movable up and down the neck sounding better in some places than in others. Give it a go.

I find myself hitting this chord at the 7th fret when I pick up my guitar - I can remember when I first learned this chord years ago, always was refered too as the Hendrix Chord, none of us knew the actual name for it - LOL!!

I Check my Clean Tones with a D and my Dirty Tones with an E, so I play those the most.

My Favorite is this one from Rivieara Paradise

E-O
A-7
D-4
G-O
B-O
E-O

Which is I believe an "Em add2".

This is one of my favourites as well, played with an up-stroke.
The Yardbirds used it ( I think ) in 'Still I'm Sad'.
Yes, a very atmospheric chord.

Yeah! I love the minor 7th barre chords too! I also like to get to the major chords hendrix-style, so my little finger is free to make it a ninth and all other weird variations.

That 076780 chord is one of my favourites too. I love playing weird chords, adding open strings. It sometimes just 'warms chords up'...

That's a C alright, sometimes that voicing is called a C/G, cause it's a C woth a G bass note. The G is the C Chords Fifth, so I just call it a C.
