It looks like Gibson is doing an MIA remake of the Epi Wilshire:

First released in 1960 the Wilshire featured two P90 pickups, a 3 on a side headstock and a solid mahogany body and one piece neck. It was designed to compete with the popular Fender Stratocaster in terms of upper fret access, light-weight and playability. It is little surprise given its Kalamazoo origins that this guitar would share many features with its Gibson cousin the Les Paul Jr. However unlike the Les Paul Jr. the 62 Epiphone Wilshire provided two P90 pickups and an intonatable bridge.

It's a very beautiful instrument. Hopefully one will arrive in my local music store so I can give it a test drive...

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize this is likely gonna be an ultra-expensive boutique guitar. Too bad. It looks like it can really sing.

It's the only thing, other than the Valve Junior Heads, that Epiphone/Gibson has put out in recent years that I thought was worth checking out...

The only "star" I've ever seen playing a Wilshire was Johnny Winter (a guitar god, actually).

At least I think that's what I saw he played in around 1969, before he became a Firebird man.
