Not movies, but Steven King books and stories always reference rock songs.

Eddie & the Cruisers: a true guilty pleasure. The music was top shelf, though, done by John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band. After seeing the first one, you get sucked into seeing the sequel to find out what happened. One of those flicks you just can't turn off, for sure.

Maximum Overdrive, bad movie, great soundtrack

Another vote for Crossroads. Not only great Guitar work by Vai and Cooder, but great Harmonica Playing by whoever is playing for Blind Dog. And the incidental music is just great througout. And the Best one liners in Movie History.

Cheers

Another movie whose sequel should never have been made. The first was primo.

Would never forget Ry Cooder, from Crossroads. He is so awesome, and that movie was a showcase for him.

A favorite from my youth was Starstruck, an Australian film by Gillian Anderson who went on to direct The Piano and other serious things, but Starstruck is pure fun. Features a song called "Body and Soul" penned by Neil Finn of Split Enz and later Crowded House. When I was in high school, an old movie theater downtown used to alternate - Friday night at midnight Rocky Horror Picture Show, Saturday night at midnight Starstruck. Saw it again a few years ago on DVD and loved it just as much.

Back Beat is a good one too. Had a wild super group to play the music for it.

on a side note. What was that movie with mark Walberg and Jennifer Anniston (Oh so Hawt!) where marky mark plays a hair band singer?

+1 on Six String Samurai and Amadeus.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch - With all due respect to nikininja, I thought this was brilliant.
