(i wish they let you type longer titles for more detail)

anyway, i play lead/rhythm guitar (can also sing) and am 23 years old in the Philadelphia, PA region. i am desperately seeking out fellow young musicians to form a band with. i would like to try and keep the age range from 20-35, even though that can limit things. contact me if you play drums, bass, keys, sax, rhythm guitar. or if you know anyone who might be interested, forward this on to them please

i intend to make this primarily an original material band (i write songs, and if you do too, we can certainly use them also), but some covers are also cool. i'm somewhat flexible with genre, it all depends on who i find and their collective tastes. but to describe my target sound, i'd like to do something that involves/combines at least one of the following elements:
-"jam band" feel (Grateful Dead, Moe., Phish, etc.)
-college rock feel (OAR, Dave Matthews band, Dispatch, State Radio, etc)
-bluesy/jazz/funk/soul aesthetic (aka groove-oriented)
-"pop" aesthetic
-"80's or 90's alt. rock" aesthetic
-this is random, but, "Springsteen and E Street" aesthetic

i believe a workable outcome could result from any combination from the above list, and i anticipate trying to make something awesome happen. however, i encourage feedback if you have ideas that could work with this.

when the hopefully-soon-to-be band has a sturdy set of material, i intend to book gigs where and when possible. bars, parties, festivals, charitable causes, etc. for now, let's say i would definitely shoot for gigging the Tri-State area (PA, DE, NJ).

i have experience playing as a lead guitarist for several other bands, mostly classic rock-sounding stuff and the likes, covers and originals. have plenty stage experience.

dont know what it is, tried craigslist, bandmix.com, musolist.com, flyers in music shop, open mic's...got very little response from other people so far.

anyway, if interested, please write back. but just to make sure you contact me, i ask that you also email me at volpe21 (at) hotmail (dot) com

thanks everyone

mike

Sounds very interesting, but I'm outside of your age range (42).

It might help you if you also mention your goals - how often are you looking to play out/practice ... level of commitment ... stay local ... go national ... what kind of experience you have.

42 is still young and if you got it why not.

thanks for the feedback so far everyone. i have edited my original post as advised.
i suppose the 40's age range isn't all that bad, i'd be willing to give it a go. unfortunately souderton and central NJ might be a stretch for me right now. i live near the delaware border, and money is tight, so it might be a bit impractical to do that much driving once or twice a week for just practice.

(i know, i probably need to step out of the circle of comfort...i'll be considering it)

what kind of stuff are you guys into anyway, music/sound-wise?

I was just thinking how much you could teach them about the business! Understand though!

Go to all the music stores in your area,as they always have a wall where musicians hang fliers looking for other musicians, and a sad but true dose of reality if your really serious and going to give it your best shot hook up with guys your own age even though you can hook up with some great cats who can blaze but are much older, as most people with record industry know how will tell you you wont make it,sad but true a big part of getting sighned has to do with the look of your band as much as the music/you can thank MTV for that.Unless you were a solo artist then you can pick your backing band/MAYBE-But the recording buisness is just that a buisness and if you can play or just barely play as long as it sells thats all that matters to them.Anyone here 40 and up will tell you back in the day a band had a chance to mature maybe 3 albums before thay hit or got dropped now its one and done .GOOD LUCK
