If I am right, Leo Fender was born in 1909.

Is there anything (Anniversary guitar, books, etc.) expected on the occasion of his 100th birthday?

They better do something. A 100th Birthday Nocaster would be cool. Represents his Original Idea (The Telecaster ), His Struggles (The Broadkaster problem), and it would have a Missing Man Tribute feel to it, with no name on the headstock.

Or at least a Bar Stool and a cool set of Coasters.

A customshop recreation of the original paddle headed broadcaster design would be fitting. Along with a commemorative edition of the first fender amp, a p.a system i believe. Or maybe his first guitar amp

They should make a 100th Birthday Broadcaster and an amp to go with it.

Right.

Wikipedia says:

Quote:
Clarence Leonidas Fender (August 10, 1909 - March 21, 1991), also known as Leo Fender, was a Greek-American inventor who founded Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company, now known as Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, and later founded MusicMan and G&L Musical Products (G&L Guitars). His guitar, bass, and amplifier designs from the 1950s continue to dominate popular music more than half a century later.

So with that said, wouldn't it be G&L or Musicman that would celebrate his 100th birthday with a tribute instrument? Just a thought.

I did not realize until this thread that Leo Fender and I share the same birthday - fifty years apart! I was born on 8-10-59 meaning that I will turn 50 on Mr. Fender's 100th. Seems like I ought to plan something special, hmmm...
