I'm another member of the "no car payment" fan club

I drive a '00 Toyota Tacoma.

My wife's car is a '03 Honda Civic with the little kid shades in the back. People see that and think, "I bet he's a guitar player."

The Volvo dealer in my neighborhood has 2 1960's Volvo 1800s that look like they never left the showroom floor. I drool every time that I pass them.

Right now I've got a bright red 2000 Dodge Dakota Sport Club Cab... somewhat "green" as it was the last year that they produced the 4 cylinder. One more year of car payments and I'm converting it to run on natural gas. Then she'll be really green!

(Not my actual car--this is a picture I found online. But it really is that red. My Strat is red too. It's a sickness.)

Seem like all the money is in England now! I drive (and have the pink slip) a 2004 Red Silverado Chevy Extra cab truck and the wife drives a (paid for) 2001 Toyota 4-Runner. She says I also drive her nuts!! :)

Was, I retired last year. Regulars do get an allowance when they make motor status. Its like a promotion. I was a Rserve Officer so I had all the same requirements and training but I did it for love (free). Liability Insurance was covered, Registration was covered and 10 gallons of gas whenever you worked.

That's really cool, I admire you for volunteering for something like that, I know that its not easy making a living in Hawai'i.
(I've been studying a move over there for about 4 years, and I'm gonna move to Kona or Keahou in a few years.)

I always had a car when I lived in NY,
Tennessee and South Florida. Loved to restore
old hot rods and muscle cars (owned about 20 so far at one time or another) and also love jeeps.
I have owned a CJ5, 2 CJ7's and a Wrangler
which I sold right before we moved to LA.

Now that I am in LA I don't think I want a car again.
My guitarists car (an 07 Honda fit which 3 of us drove
here from FLA in...(packed with our gear) already looks
beat to heck. And our singer has a late model honda
as well..all dented up and recently hit a drunk pedestrian
who ran out into her car when she had a green light,
and cracked her windshield and got blood all over the car.

I think I might wait before driving here,,it is hectic
traffic here and rough on the brakes and exteriors.
