I've been working on "Runaround Man" by Motorhead by ear lately. Easy guitar song with a great groove to it. Got all except the solo down. I know the solo is in C#, but...that's where I fall short...

My question really is...what scale is the solo based on, for those who have heard it? C# minor? Maj.? I'm having trouble telling, as I'm not the best guitarist ever. I actually feel bad hanging around here because I've only been playing a year and no where near professional. :?

But aside from that...for those who have heard the song "Runaround Man" by Motorhead, do they know what scale the solo is based upon? It would be greatly appreciated. :)

Well the guitar sounds like it is tuned one step lower low E is tunned a whole step down on d giving the entire guitar a whole drop D tunning only a step lower so if your guitar is just like that then the scale he uses for the solo on the guitar is on D minor and should be focused on the 10th fret...

If its fast eddie clarke on the album its minor pentatonic or straight major.

Ok after another listen.
The guitar is tuned way down with maybe the low E dropped a tone. Try tuning down to DGCFAD and dropping the low D to C. Then go with the same rhythm pattern youve been playing but open.
E.g
E] 0 h 1 1 1
A] 0 h 1 3 1
As a rough idea in tab.

The solo sounds quite chuck berry derived too albeit with wild bends ala EVH. It may be worth looking at some Berry solo's to get the general jist for it.

Awesome! Again, you've helped me out in a sticky sort of spot. Many thanks! :D
