I would recommend checking out Marty Stuart's gospel album Soul's Chapel. It has a country/blues sound to it and mirrors the Staples Singers who I also recommend looking into if you have not already.

I was quite pleased when I first listened to that album, and still listen to it frequently.

There aren't too many Christians playing blues. I wish there were more, since I'm the only one I can think of.

Decemberadio is good, but it isn't blues at all. It's rock.

Okay. I have a question. First of all, I am a Christian and not just in name, I am active in my church.

But my question is this: Isn't "Christian Blues" kind of an oxymoron? I mean think about it; we have the promise of eternal life with the Almighty God in paradise! What do we have to be blue about? Everything that happens on this earth just doesn't matter in the great scheme of things.

Just an observation.

I know, I know. It is a type and style of music. I am just having a bit of fun! :)

Decemberadio has some nice blues songs. The lead guitarist has a very nice custom shop relic strat that he has for that purpose. :D

Do you have any videos or anything? So far I have only heard them do rock songs and some pop. I was bummed that I missed the chance to see them on tour with Third Day a while back.

When they were here in Atlanta, they did some blues. Yes seeing them with Third Day would have been cool. I actually know Third Day personally. A couple of my buddies and I played a few songs with their drummer, and one of my buddies has dinner with them all the time. Pretty cool :D

Read Psalms again. In many of them David has got the blues. :)

In fact, a whole bunch of people all throughout the Bible have got it too. There's a time to be happy and there's a time to be sad. If your best friend was going through something terrible and started crying, would you tell them it didn't matter and that they have to be happy all the time? I hope not. That would just be wrong.

Not strictly 'blues' but I would suggest listening to 'The Gospel Hummingbirds'

A lot of overlap between gospel and good (old, not the new boring pap that passes nowadays,) R&B. Stylistically, maybe the content is a bit different.
