Hi all. I'm new here and hope this post is OK for the lounge. If not, then I will remove it. In the last few months, I have added two new Fenders to the family and just love them. I bought a '93 American Tele for me and a '08 American Standard Jazz Bass for my son, Reese.

Reese has been wanting to do a video with his J-bass, so we made one tonight. Here is a link to the video on Youtube. I hope you enjoy it.

Welcome! Yes it's OK to post - especially when you want to share that kind of stuff.

So how did this boy come to be such a guitar player at his age? I can't imagine my 8 year old doing those things.

Welcome to the Fender Lounge! Reese is incredible! Now I am going to have to watch all five of his videos on You Tube! Wow. Impressive!

Thanks for sharing. Now we need to see some duets! :)

SBLS - Thank you from both Reese & me.

tomk62 - Thanks for the welcome & letting me know that the post was kosher. As to how Reese became such a guitar player? He came equiped with a great set of ears, a lot of musical desire, and a musically can-do attitude.

Reese plays completely by ear. He doesn't use chord charts, tabs, nor has he had instruction. My wife bought him a First Act guitar a couple of months before he turned five. We got him a Fender Infinity mini guitar & a G-DEC about a year later. He pretty much wore out the mini in 2.5 years. He had a 3/4 scale Precision Bass for about 1.5 years.

This year Reese hit the Jackpot. He received a LP Studio VM & Fender Jazz. All I ever did was tune the instruments (in the beginning) for him, talk music with him, provide gear, CDs, etc.. Reese has practiced on his own. He seldom plays along with a CD, but usually goes by the tune in his head.

So, I guess most of it was an innate ability.

Yes he is, SBLS. Although he doesn't want to slow down yet for a solid body love song. (Sorry for the corn) He likes the hard rock. Image
