The way mine works(RP-100) is that you can control the output volume by using the 3rd dial turning this dial down, numbers will appear on the screen( usually preset at 99) It kinda works like an extra gain. I hope this helps, a full gain=hard to handle(noisy) guitar. I hope this helps. Mine also changes volumes after switching to different effects, i think this is normal. I'm not too familiar with your model, so i dont know If this helps but I hope it did.
Just play with it for a while thats the best way to learn about anything.

Have you tried using the noise gate effect on it? That might help. I have a RP50 which I use all the time and mine doesn't hum at all.

thanks guys. see thats what worrys me that yours doesnt hum at all!

the thing is the minute i turn it on, the amp starts humming, i will try noise gate in a bit, hope it helps!

my amp is 25w, could it be that the signal is just too strong for it???

im well gutted about this, ive been looking forward to getting it for ages!

thanks for all your help!

just tried noise gate, this only stops hum when im not playing.

major hum even on clean effects.

when i start playing it starts, i bend up, the hum bends up.

i rang guitar shop today, he said, cables!! ? and he said could be the amp not powerful enough! its frontman 25r thats 25w surely that cant be the prob! could it be faulty????

really really would love some input on this!!

thanks

You will also reduce some hum by plugging your amp and your pedal to a properly grounded source, wall outlets most of them are not properly grounded for example I use a little UPS box that eliminates any non desired noise coming from the AC voltage itself... and grounds it really well therefore my amp doesnt have even a minimum of noise when turned on..... that should be something to think about :)
