Well, I am about to embark an adventure of sorts... I am about to begin giving guitar lessons to my little cousin. I am pretty experienced and know my stuff pretty well. But, I am beginning to get nervous as to what exactly to teach him. He is an extreme beginner and I will definitely teach him "the basics" but I'm still nervous as to what exactly to teach him. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
thanks in advance for any and all answers!

Start with the basic chords, and EXPLAIN as you go. If he can get chords down fairly quickly, then some of the other stuff won't be as hard. Good luck! :D

Proper hand/ finger placement.

Don't let him start any bad habits

Start with the easy open chords, A, E, D, then move to harder ones C, G, then minor and seventh variations. When there's some finger strength introduce E then A style barre chords.

Find out what kind of music he likes then gear the lessons towards songs he wants to learn, this will keep his interest and motivation going. If you center everything around things he wants to learn it should go easier.

Just started giving lessons myself, I went to the local GC and picked up the Hal Leonard guitar book, VOL. 97 (Rock Band). Not a bad song in the book. These kids know and love every song in it. Plus with the CD that comes with it you can play along and slow the songs down.
